I just purchased a new candle, now what? Candles have, what is called a memory burn, it is the first burn of your new candle. We recommend burning your new candle for at least 2 hours the very first time. This is to ensure your candle memory (sounds silly, right?). Ever had a candle that just burns straight down the center and never makes it to the edge? It was likely caused by that very first burn not getting to its full potential. Once our candle has reached the perimeter of the container with a full melted wax pool, wait until you have at least 1/2 inch in depth before extinguishing it.
What is wick trimming? Wick trimming is so, so important for your candle. There is no need to trim your wick when you get your new candle. It comes pre-trimmed to the ideal length. Before you use the candle the second time, trim its wick first and do so before each additional burn in the future. You only need about 1/4 inch of wick to have a proper burn on your candle.
Why do we use soy wax? Soy wax is nontoxic and burns cleaner than paraffin wax. Paraffin is a petroleum-based wax that produces black smoke which blackens your walls, furniture, and add toxins into the air you and your family breathe. Indeed, the black smoke that comes from ordinary candles (and covering the rim of the candle jar) is created by the paraffin wax itself.
What do we scent our candles with? We use combinations of essential oil and fragrance, that is why we say our candles are a little bit of science, a little but of nature.
How long will my candle burn for? Your eight-ounce glass apothecary jar should burn for up to thirty hours! Our larger candles should last twice as long. In order to obtain the longest burn time possible, follow the suggestions listed above.
How long will my tart release scent? Each tart piece should release scent for up to four to six hours. So a six-piece tart should last between twenty-four and thirty-six hours. the scent release depends on how hot your tart warmer bulb is.
